THE EV GRANDPRIX
Queen’s Relectric will compete in the Purdue evGrandPrix, hosted annually by Purdue University. Taking place in April 2026, the event is the largest collegiate electric go-kart racing competition in North America, bringing together student teams from universities across the United States to compete against one another. Queen’s Relectric is proud to represent Canada as the only Canadian team partaking in this year’s evGrandPrix.

COMPETITION DETAILS

The competition challenges students to apply engineering design, electrical systems integration, and technical problem-solving to build a fully electric go-kart and race under a strict set of regulations. All vehicles must be constructed on a regulated sprint kart chassis and powered exclusively by electric motor(s) supplied by an onboard battery pack. Teams are responsible for the complete design and integration of the battery system, motor controller, wiring architecture, and safety systems.

Before competing on track, each go-kart must successfully pass a comprehensive technical inspection, with additional inspections conducted after qualifying and following the race. Teams must also select and prepare a driver to compete in a 50-lap race around the circuit, under professional motorsports-style rules and safety standards.

Overall competition results are determined by a combination of final race placement, energy efficiency, and a formal engineering design report documenting design details.

Queen’s Relectric looks forward to participating in our first evGrandPrix and showcasing the product of our dedicated work on electric vehicle development. This competition will reinforce our commitment to applied engineering, innovation, and sustainable transportation.
